Borderlands 2 was officially announced on August 3rd, 2011. The game was released on September 18, 2012 in the United States, September 20, 2012 in the Australasia region and September 21, 2012 internationally. Borderlands 2 was built in Unreal Engine 3 and uses PhysX technology. It was announced by Randy Pitchford, Gearbox CEO, that the game sold over 12 millions units by March 2015 on all platforms [1].

Borderlands: Game of the Year Edition is the brand new definitive version of the award-winning 2009 first-person shooter/role-playing game, loaded with additional content and enhancements. With brand new weapons, substantial visual upgrades, numerous quality of life improvements, and all four content add-on packs, this updated edition breathes new life into the co-op shooter-looter that started it all.

It turns that anyone with a Russian IP address who buys the game from Steam is given, unsurprisingly, a Russian version of the game. The thing is, the Russian version of the game is notably inferior to those of other regions, and users in the aforementioned Commonwealth countries are often assigned Russian IP addresses.

Which raises a few issues. Firstly, while people are certainly annoyed that the pre-order information was somewhat lacking, that's perhaps not the issue they were hoping to see corrected. Also, it seems a little peculiar that it was not possible to include other languages, since they were obviously all in place for non-Russian versions of the game. But most of all, it doesn't address the rather larger question: why? Why lock down a region in the first place? And why are former Soviet nations being included in this? The statement doesn't suggest that this issue is being taken into account at all.

While the game itself may be the same as the one available on your region, you should know that DLC from the American PSN store will not work with your copy of the games. If you wish to download DLC for your game, you'll need to download it from the game region's store.

Censorship is usually within a country and not within a region.I live in germany (which is region 2) and and we have an awful lot of games that are rated age 18 and are heavily censored. But if I buy the same game in the netherlands (same dvd region and borders to germany) it is completely uncut. To answer your question: Check from where exactly you bought your game and then check wether or not it was censored in that particular country.

Gamers in Russia and Ukraine are unhappy with their purchase of Borderlands 2 at the moment, because they got a version of the game they never expected or asked for. Any version bought in the Commonwealth of Independent States is a Russian-only region-locked version that cannot be played with online globally.

This applies only to the copy bought on Steam. Retail versions are the international edition that everybody else in the world got. What has really infuriated consumers is the fact that nobody warned them beforehand. During pre-orders, there had been no indication that CIS residents would get a different version of the game.

Through this list, you will be able to select your favorite titles more easily and make the most of your Xbox Game Pass subscription. However, bear in mind that some Xbox games are region-locked and may be unavailable to play in your home region.
